WRITE TO HEAL TRAUMA AND GRIEF

Ijeoma Umebinyuo tells us that to heal:

1. You must let the pain visit.
2. You must allow it to teach you.
3. You must not allow it to overstay.


Therapeutic writing and songwriting strategies allow people to meet their pain as it is, to learn from the experience, and to find release so that they may move forward carrying their story with more ease.

Write to Heal Trauma and Grief is a therapeutic writing and songwriting program that engages you in the process of exploring and expressing yourself in a creative way. After learning a little bit about how therapeutic writing and songwriting can help process powerful experiences, you’ll be gently guided through a variety of writing exercises designed to help uncover and understand your thoughts and feelings.

All writing activities are invitational, and you’ll have full control over what you write about and how you write it. You’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace, and you’ll be supported through the experience by a registered social worker who is also an author and songwriter, with a therapy practice specializing in grief and trauma care. You’ll have privacy for your work, and you won’t be expected to share it with anyone, although there will be opportunities to discuss how it feels to experiment with these strategies.

This program is available for individuals and for groups.
